ที่สุดแห่งความอลังการและยิ่งใหญ่กว่าที่ผ่านมา อีกครั้งกับงาน “หัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล 2008” กลับมาให้ได้ชมกันอีกครั้ง กับเทศกาลแจ๊สสุดฮิป เติมสีสันสุดมันส์ให้ชีวิตในงาน “หัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล2008” ที่บรรดาคอเพลงแจ๊สตั้งตารอคอย ครั้งนี้นับว่าเป็นปรากฎการณ์ใหม่ ที่จะทำให้ผู้ชื่นชอบเพลงแจ๊ส เต็มเปี่ยมไปด้วยความสุขมากยิ่งขึ้น ด้วยการยกเวที มาตั้งอยู่ริมชายหาดหัวหิน เพื่อให้คอเพลงแจ๊สได้ดื่มด่ำกับดนตรีแจ๊สหลากหลายสไตล์ ระหว่างวันที่ 13-14 มิถุนายน 2551 งานนี้ยังนับว่ามีเหล่าศิลปินทั้งไทยและเทศ ยกทัพมากันมากที่สุด เท่าที่เคยมีมาเลยทีเดียว!!

คณะกรรมการจัดงานหัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล กล่าวว่า งานหัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล เป็นงานมหกรรมดนตรีที่ยิ่งใหญ่งานหนึ่งที่ทางเมืองหัวหินได้จัดต่อเนื่องกันมาหลายปีโดยได้รับการผลการตอบรับเป็นอย่างดีจากเหล่าบรรดาคนรักเพลงแจ๊ส ในครั้งนี้เราได้เนรมิตเมืองหัวหินให้เป็น “Jazz Town” เพื่อตอบรับกระแส” งานหัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล 2008” ที่กำลังจะมาถึงนี้ด้วยการติดธงประดับ, เปิดเสียงเพลงแจ๊สตามสาย, สามล้อ Ad. ฯลฯ ทั่วเมืองหัวหิน และในครั้งนี้ทางเมืองหัวหินยังได้จัดบริการทางด้านสาธารณูปโภค, ที่จอดรถพร้อมทั้งจัดเตรียมให้มีรถรับ-ส่งผู้ที่จะมาชมคอนเสริต์เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในงานครั้งนี้อีกด้วย

ด้านนายเสริมคุณ คุณาวงศ์ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บริษัท ซีเอ็ม ออการ์ไนเซอร์ จำกัด(มหาชน) เปิดเผยถึงการจัดงานหัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติวัล 2008 ในครั้งนี้ว่า เป็นงานมหกรรมดนตรีที่ยิ่งใหญ่งานหนึ่งของประเทศ ซึ่งทางบริษัทฯ ได้รับความไว้วางใจจากคณะกรรมการจัดงาน ให้เป็นผู้บริหารการจัดงานเต็มระบบ รวมเป็นระยะเวลา 4 ปี โดยปีนี้ถือเป็นปีแรกและนับเป็นก้าวสำคัญที่บริษัทฯได้เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการจัดมหกรรมดนตรีในครั้งนี้ และถือเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่จะช่วยส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวให้กับเมืองหัวหิน อีกทั้งทางบริษัทฯยังมั่นใจในศักยภาพความเป็น Event organizer ชั้นแนวหน้าของประเทศที่จะทำให้มหกรรมดนตรีแจ๊สในครั้งนี้เป็นงานที่มีระบบการจัดการโดยรวมเป็นที่ยอมรับของทั้งชาวไทยและต่างประเทศ

นายเสริมคุณ กล่าวต่อว่า ในปีนี้เรายังได้ยกเอาเวทีทั้งสองเวทีมาตั้งอยู่ริมชายหาด ซึ่งจะแตกต่างไปจากปีก่อนๆ เพื่อให้ผู้ที่มาชมได้มาสัมผัสกับบรรยากาศแจ๊สมันส์ๆริมหาดทรายหัวหิน อีกทั้งงานในครั้งนี้เรายังจัดให้มี “Jazz alley” ซึ่งเป็นร้านค้าเล็กๆ เรียงเป็นรายทางอยู่ตรงกลางระหว่างเวทีทั้งสอง อาทิ ร้านถักเปีย, ร้าน Paint, OTOP 5 ดาว และร้านค้าอื่นๆอีกมากมาย เพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศให้ดูมีชีวิตชีวามากขึ้น

และนอกจากนี้เรายังได้รับความร่วมมือกับค่ายเพลง Hitman นำศิลปินแจ๊สชั้นนำจากยุโรปมาร่วมสร้างสีสันในงานนี้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Ben Besiakov Trio, Ibrahim Electric feat. Michael Blake, Mikkel Nordso Band, Malene Mortensen feat. Jonas Johansen, Bill Bruford จากยูเค, Lazaro Valdes จากคิวบารวมไปถึงศิลปินไทย อาทิ Crescendo, ลิปตา VS รัดเกล้า อามระดิษ, Doobadoo, T-Bone และอาจารย์ทางด้านดนตรีแจ๊สชั้นแนวหน้าของไทย ที่พร้อมจะมาบรรเลงบทเพลงอันแสนไพเราะหลากหลายสไตล์ และไฮไลท์เด็ดอยู่ที่ยูโรเปี้ยนแจ๊ส พร้อมกันนี้ยังได้รับความสนับสนุนจากทาง Media Partner ไม่ว่าจะเป็น คลื่น 98.5 breeze FM ซึ่งเป็นคลื่นเพลงแจ๊สที่เข้าถึงกลุ่มผู้ฟังได้มากที่สุด, หนังสือพิมพ์ Bangkok Post, Post Today, GuRu และ MTV อีกทั้งบรรดาคอแจ๊สยังจะได้ร่วมเล่นเกมส์เพื่อรับของรางวัลระดับพรีเมี่ยมจาก Honda อีกด้วย

ด้าน มร. เจฟ คิมเบิ้ล ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายการพาณิชย์ เบียร์ไฮเนเก้น ผู้สนับสนุนหลักของการจัดงานในครั้งนี้ กล่าวว่า เบียร์ไฮเนเก้นกับกิจกรรมดี ๆ สำหรับผู้บริโภคเป็นสองสิ่งที่ต้องคู่กันเสมอ โดยเฉพาะกิจกรรมด้านดนตรี “หัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติวัล 2008” เป็นอีกหนึ่งกิจกรรมที่ไฮเนเก้นภูมิใจที่จะนำมามอบให้กับผู้บริโภค โดยเฉพาะแฟนเพลงแจ๊ส และที่สำคัญ ปีนี้ไฮเนเก้นได้จัดให้มี Heineken Charity Zone ซึ่งเป็นโซนที่ให้บรรยากาศสบายๆแบบเป็นส่วนตัวที่แฟนเพลงแจ๊สสามารถรื่นรมย์กับศิลปินเพลงแจ๊สระดับโลก ณ เวทีชายหาดบริเวณหน้าโรงแรมโซฟิเทลเซ็นทรัล หัวหินได้อย่างใกล้ชิดพร้อมกับดื่มเบียร์ไฮเนเก้นฟรีตลอดคืน ผู้ที่สนใจเข้า Heineken Charity Zone สามารถซื้อคูปองได้ในราคา 500 บาท ซึ่งรายได้ส่วนหนึ่งที่ได้หลังจากหักค่าใช้จ่ายและภาษีแล้วจะมอบให้กับ สภากาชาด อำเภอ หัวหิน จังหวัด ประจวบคีรีขันธ์

Hua Hin Jazz Festival was one of the most successful events. The music festival cannot classify the audience in which how much they feel affection for jazz music or not because it seemed like jazz music was devalued to be only an activity or supplementary music for the party. In contrast, when we talk about entertaining, Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2006, held in last 2-4 June, did not make the audience feel disappointed. CM Organizer compiled topflight European Jazz Artists (die-hard jazz listeners know definitely that Jazz from Europe were popular in the last 2-3 years) like Ibrahim Electric featuring with Michael Blake on the stage, Malene Mortensen, a young pop jazz singer and her band, Jonas Johansen or Bill Bruford, the excellent artists. A bonus for Cuba Jazz, which is trendy for Bars on the beach or downtown pubs, was an inviting a singer from Cuba, Lazaro Valdes, to join in this festival. Last, recognized Thai singer like Crescendo, Doobadoo, T-Bone and other singers joined in this festival. Undoubtedly a question about no Thai Jazz Artists anymore comes up. A change for this year was that the 2 stages were moved to be at the beach in front of Hilton Hotel and Sofitel Hotel. Each of them was quite far away from each other to make the feeling of jazz on the beach be full option. Sound of music from each stage did not disturb each other.
Highlight of the festival was flood tide. It made the beach which is normally narrow be smaller in width. After that, Hua Hin’s nature created personal seats, rocks that audience could sit alone or they could sit in pairs.

‘หัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติวัล’ เป็นเทศกาลดนตรีที่จัดว่าประสบความสำเร็จมากที่สุดรายการหนึ่ง ที่แม้จะว่าไปแล้วตัวเทศกาลดนตรีเองอาจจะไม่สามารถชี้วัดคุณภาพของผู้ชมว่าใครเป็นผู้ที่ชื่นชอบหรือคลั่งไคล้ดนตรีแจ๊สจริงๆ หรือไม่อย่างไร เพราะเหมือนดนตรีแจ๊สในเทศกาลนี้ได้ถูกเลือนไปจนเกือบจะเรียกได้ว่าเป็น ‘กิจกรรม’ หรือ ‘ดนตรีประกอบการดื่มกินของผู้ชม’ เท่านั้นเอง แต่ถ้าจะให้พูดกันแค่ในแง่ของความสนุก ‘หัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติเวล 2006’ ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 2-4 มิถุนายนก็ไม่ได้ทำให้ผู้ที่เป็นแฟนหัวหินแจ๊สเฟสติวัลต้องผิดหวังเลย โดยเฉพาะปีนี้ทางซีเอ็มออร์แกนไนเซอร์ผู้จัดได้รวบรวมเอาศิลปินแจ๊สชั้นนำจากยุโรป (ซึ่งแน่นอนผู้ที่ฟังแจ๊สแบบลงลึกย่อมทราบว่าแจ๊สจากยุโรปเป็นที่นิยมอย่างมากในช่วงสองสามปีก่อน)
ซึ่งชื่อเสียงเรียงนามเหล่านี้ถือเป็นที่รู้จักหรือไม่ก็เป็นที่คุ้นหูอยู่บ้างสำหรับนักฟัง อาทิเช่น Ibrahim Electric ที่งานนี้ร่วมเล่นกับ Michael Blake บนเวที นักร้องสาวป็อปแจ๊ส Malene Mortensen และวงดนตรีของเธอ Jonas Johansen หรือ Bill Bruford นักดนตรีรุ่นเก๋า
และที่เห็นจะเป็นการตอบสนองเทรนด์คิวบาแจ๊สที่เป็นที่แพร่หลาย ทั้งในบาร์ริมชายหาด หรือคลับใจกลางเมืองก็คือการนำเอานักร้องชาวคิวบา Lazaro Valdes มาร่วมในงานเทศกาลครั้งนี้ด้วย
สุดท้ายก็คือศิลปินไทยที่หน้าไม่ใหม่อีกแล้วเช่น Crescendo, Doobadoo, T-Bone และหน้าเดิมๆ อีกหลายคน ซึ่งแน่นอนชวนให้สงสัยเหลือเกินว่า ไม่มีศิลปินไทยที่เล่นดนตรีแจ๊สอีกแล้วหรือ?
ส่วนความเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นในปีนี้ก็คือเวทีจัดแสดงดนตรีทั้งสองเวทีได้ย้ายมาอยู่บริเวณชายหาดหัวหิน หน้าโรงแรมฮิลตัน และโรงโซฟีเทล แต่ละเวทีเรียกได้ว่าอยู่ไกลกันพอสมควร เพื่อให้ได้บรรยากาศแจ๊สริมชายหาดเต็มรูปแบบมากขึ้น โดยที่เสียงแต่ละเวทีจะได้ไม่ตีกัน
ส่วนไฮไลท์ของงานจริงๆ ก็คงจะอยู่ที่ตอนน้ำขึ้นนี่ละครับ เพราะชายหาดที่แคบอยู่แล้วก็ยิ่งแคบลงไปอีก และหลังจากนั้นธรรมชาติของหาดหัวหินก็จะทำให้เกิดที่นั่งส่วนตัว เป็นโขดหินที่พอให้นั่งเป็นคนๆ หรือเป็นคู่ๆ ไป

Hua Hin (Thai หัวหิน) is a famous beach resort town in Thailand, in the northern part of the Malay Peninsula, some 200 km south of Bangkok. It has a population of 84,883 in an area of 911 km², and is one of eight districts (Amphoe) of the Prachuap Khiri Khan province

History
In 1834, before the name Hua Hin was coined, some agricultural areas of Phetchaburi Province were hit by severe drought. A group of farmers moved southward until they found a small village that had bright white sands and a row of rocks along the beach. They settled here and gave it the name Samore Riang (Thai สมอเรียง), which mean rows of rock.

In 1921 the director of the state railway, Prince Purachatra, built the Railway Hotel close to the beach. King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) liked the place so much that he built a summer palace there. The palace was named Wang Klai Kang Won (‘Far from Worries’). It is now the full-time residence of His Majesty the King of Thailand. His Royal Highness Prince Krom Phra Naresworarit was the first member of the royal family to build a group of palaces at Ban Laem Hin, called Sukaves, and he give the name Hua Hin to the beach next to his palace.

In 1932 Hua Hin was part of Pran Buri district. In 1949 Hua Hin was promoted to be a district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. After the building of southern railway, Hua Hin became the first and most popular beach resort of Thailand.

Hua Hin Town
Hua Hin Town (เทศบาลเมืองหัวหิน) is on the coast of Hua Hin District. With an area around 86.36 km², the town has 50,169 inhabitants. It is a popular beach resort getaway for Bangkok residents. The Railway Hotel, now more generally known as The Sofitel Hotel, is a famous old building which was used as The Hotel Pnom Phen in the film “The Killing Fields”.

Location
The district to the north is Cha Am. The district to the south is Amphoe Pran Buri.

Hua Hin Media
Hua Hin has a few local media, such as Thai newspapers, the English written Hua Hin Today Newspaper, the “Cable TV” channel in Thai, and a few magazines. Most written information visitors to Hua Hin would find, would be pampflets, flyers, free maps and other advertising materials for local hotels and real estate business’.
