Error MSN & Window live Messenger 80040200 , 8001012e
Following This Step
Before following these steps make sure you have the latest Windows Live Messenger (MSN) installed
If you use an older version of MSN follow these steps:
- Exit MSN
- Go to start button then click run or simply hit Windows keyboard button + R to open Run
- Type following: %appdata%\microsoft\msn messenger and hit enter
- Deleted all folders and files located in this path
If you use Windows Live Messenger follow these steps.
Method for Windows XP users:
- Exit Windows Live Messenger
- In Tools Menu check Show hidden files and folders
- Navigate to those paths and delete every subfolder or files
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address
C:\Documents and Settings\ Your Windows logon name \Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\ Your Messenger email address
Method for Windows Vista users:
- Exit Windows Live Messenger
- In Tools Menu check Show hidden files and folders
- Navigate to those paths and delete every subfolder or files
C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address
C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address
